DESCRIPTION:Ta’n me’j Tel-keknuo’ltiek (Da’n mej Del-geg-new-ol-tee-egg): How Unique We Still Are\n \nMi’kmaw people past and present are shaped by their deep and abiding relations to the place they sprouted from. The Mi’kmaq continue to sprout from this land\, to be nourished by these waters\, to defend their inherent rights\, and to respect treaty relationships with others in this place. \nLaunched November 9\, 2021 at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic\, Ta’n me’j Tel’keknuo’ltiek: How Unique We Still Are\, reflects how Mi’kmaw people remain connected to the lands and waters of Mi’kma’ki. This exhibit featuring Mi’kmaw historian and guest curator\, Salina Kemp\, offers a platform for Mi’kmaw people to express their continued experiences with an understanding of the lands and the waters of Mi’kma’ki. Mi’kmaw single-word concepts are represented through personal testimony and histories of individual Mi’kmaw people\, featured objects\, artifacts\, images and symbolic artwork. These experiences and understandings are rooted in cultural expressions that connect past\, present and future in this place. \nTa’n me’j Tel’keknuo’ltiek: How Unique We Still Are offers the visitor\, especially the non-Indigenous Canadian public\, opportunities for fundamental treaty education\, and to learn about the truths that must precede reconciliation. \nThis exhibit has been translated into Mi’kmaw using the Smith/Francis orthography. Throughout the translation process\, the French and English versions have been changed as necessary to more accurately capture Mi’kmaw perception of the concepts presented.

DESCRIPTION:HFX Wanderers FC is a professional soccer club in the Canadian Premier League (CPL). Based in Halifax\, Nova Scotia\, the Wanderers were founded in 2018 and have finished in the top half of the table three times\, including a team-best third-place finish in 2023. Outside of the CPL\, HFX made back-to-back appearances in the quarterfinals of the Canadian Championship tournament in 2021 and 2022. DESCRIPTION:Known as “The People’s Marathon”\, the Blue Nose Marathon welcomes participants of all ages and abilities to promote and celebrate healthy living and active lifestyles. DESCRIPTION:Susan Aglukark and her band celebrate the 30th anniversary of her breakthrough album\, This Child\, on a cross-Canada tour. \nSusan Aglukark is Canada’s first Inuk artist to win a Juno (4)\, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for lifetime artistic achievement\, and she is an officer of the Order of Canada. Susan holds several Honourary Doctorate degrees and has held command performances. \nHer journey as a singer-songwriter began in the early 1990’s when she began her writing and recording career. In Susan’s early reflections was the discovery of the platform as learning\, sharing and healing\, this inspired her major label debut album This Child\, released in January 1995. She has since written and recorded 10 albums\, founded the Arctic Rose Foundation\, authored two children’s books and has a personal memoir in the works. \nHer writing of This Child brought her to a personal call to action\, get on the platform and speak up\, learn\, heal\, share\, this has been her work for these 30 years.

Camino is an opportunity to discover how the rhythms of time and place can help us live more lightly on the land and help us become more Earth-conscious. This particular event offers the opportunity to join an experienced pilgrimage leader on a Camino experience along Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore region. \nOur Camino will begin in the scenic oceanside community of Lunenburg\, where we’ll have a little time to explore and find some lunch before heading out on the Rum Runners Trail along Nova Scotia’s South Shore. We will travel the groomed trails of the Rails to Trails system and there will be time to visit some of the South Shore’s beautiful beaches as you pass them along the way. \nAs with all Camino NS pilgrimages\, you will be supported along the way by an enthusiastic pilgrim support team. Our daily routine provides plenty of time to get to know your fellow pilgrims\, help prepare and clean-up group meals\, participate in an optional time of spiritual reflection\, and get the rest you need to recover from the day’s walk and prepare for the next.
