Overview

Point Pleasant Park situated in the south end of the Halifax peninsula is a historic 75-hectare wooded park crisscrossed with 39 km of easy winding trails and wide paths, with many trails being wheelchair accessible.

At the western entrance, Tower Road at Point Pleasant Drive, a large map shows all walkways and points of interest that visitors to the park can experience, including Martello Tower and preserved ruins of early fortifications, coastal ecosystems, as well as cultural resources.

Dogs in Point Pleasant Park
The majority of Point Pleasant Park is an off-leash park, except for the following areas:

  • Sailors Memorial Way: no dogs allowed after 10am
  • Cambridge Drive: dogs must be on-leash at all times
  • Parking lots: dogs must be on-leash at all times

Cycling in Point Pleasant Park
Please note: Cyclists are permitted to ride on designated trails on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Biking is permitted on all main roads and pathways throughout the park during the week, but is restricted to the weekend route on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Cycling on wooded footpaths and off-trail cycling are not permitted.

Other park features include:

  • Black Rock Beach for swimming (unsupervised)
  • Popular summertime outdoor theatrical performances by Shakespeare by the Sea
  • Washroom facilities

The park can also be booked for weddings and special events.
