The Great Canadian Luffa Experience

Discover the countless benefits and uses of the versatile luffa plant, which thrives in the Annapolis Valley. Stroll through the tropical ambiance of Taproot Farms’ trellised luffa haven.

Experience Highlights:

• Explore Taproot Farm, a small farm working on land that located within a larger certified organic farm.
• Discover the many attributes of the earth friendly luffa plant through hands-on activities: Nibble and sip on this edible plant as part of your journey of discovery.
• Seasonal Highlights: This experience changes with the seasons offering variations to spring, summer, and fall sessions.
  • Spring: Feel the life force in these vigorous luffa seedlings. Dive into the ecosystem and help to shape the framework for the upcoming growing season. Get your hands dirty through hands-on learning about companion planting. Gain appreciation for passive, eco-friendly methods of pest management.
  • Summer: Help to train the luffa plants to support developing growth throughout the season. Get a feel for the strength in a tendril, as it is secured to support the growth. Learn hands-on plant maintenance and harvest best-practices. Snack on fresh-off-the-vine luffa and taste the vibrancy of other co-plantings, including colourful  flowers.
  • Autumn / harvest: Building off our summer experience, together we harvest full-size luffa. See, touch, and taste luffa in unique ways, including a very satisfying and skin-nourishing de-seeding process!

2025 Dates: * Please note, experience times vary with dates due to fluctuating temperatures inside the luffa tunnels, please refer to the booking calendar for specific experience times.

Cancellations & conditions: Guests will receive a full refund or credit when giving 48 hours notice of cancellation. Guests will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to severe weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
